Launching Off Hours

I’ve launched a new personal blog called Off Hours. Off Hours gives me a forum to blog about anything I want.

Some of you must think I am crazy to do this.  I’ve already got the Buzz Bin and Now Is Gone.  But there are several reasons to make this move:

  1. Off Hours allows me to aggregate all of my social media efforts, corporate and personal in one place. Video, District of Corruption with Aaron, all of it. On Tuesday next week I will start a weekly aggregation column of all my marketing posts. That way if people want one place, one feed, Off Hours will provide it. If they prefer social media for beginners, they have Now Is Gone, or PR and Marketing, the Buzz Bin.  More choices!
  2. I am blogging less on marketing right now, once a week for Now Is Gone, and twice for the Buzz Bin.  I’ve said a lot already, and I’m somewhat tapped out.  Between the Buzz Bin and Now Is Gone, I’ve written one book and 400+ blog posts. Now that the company has grown, I can blog less and invest more thought in my marketing blog posts.
  3. The Buzz Bin is a group blog.  The Buzz Bin actually gets good readership across all of our authors (Qui Diaz, Larissa Fair and Marinel Mones). As it is a product of the company it’s important that all of us are visible blogging. In short, the Buzz Bin is we, not me.  An upcoming minor redesign will help emphasize this.
  4. So is Now Is Gone.  Both Ike Pigott and Lauren Vargas make valuable contributions every week.
  5. That being said, I am still a writer first, and exercise my skills (or lack thereof) every day. This gives me a venue to write.
  6. In addition, since the Buzz Bin has become popular I’ve felt boxed in by the topic.  I can’t blog the way I used to and yeah, it was lot edgier when I started. In short, Off Hours gives me the latitude to have fun creating content again…

Special thanks to Shannon Whitley for helping me launch this project!
