I’ve been tagged three times in the eight random things about you meme (8 for ‘08). Thanks to Stuart Henshall, Toby Bloomberg and Todd Defren for tagging me. I agree with Todd, as this is a little too self absorbed. However, I did try to pull out eight very random facts about me for ‘08.
1) I was born in Los Angeles.
2) Peter Rose is my favorite ball player of all time (not person, as he is a gambling liar). Why? I enjoyed growing up ten rows behind first base in Veterans Stadium. Rose was an absolute joy to watch, and brought Philly its only World Series win. Every time, and I mean every time, he played Rose gave 110% effort to the game. That’s why his nickname was Charlie Hustle, and he is the all-time hits leader. It’s a travesty he’s not in the Hall of Fame.
3) As the better half of the family, my wife is currently on assignment in the United Arab Emirates. She is helping to build a new Department of Education for their government. They are not using the U.S. as a model.
4) I own every James Bond movie on DVD.
5) When I was sixteen I won free tickets on a radio show to see MC Hammer. Second row, too. It was awesome!
6) My graduate thesis at Georgetown University centered on Roger Clarke’s Innovation of Diffusion theory, and accurately modeled worldwide use of mobile Internet devices.
7) You don’t want to play me at Scrabble or Hearts. Livingstons are notoriously brutal and competitive in these games. When we lose, we get right back up and keep coming at you until we win. This generation, included.
8) My first car was a silver 1988 Mercury Cougar LS.
OK, now that I’ve done my part, it’s time to pass it on. Let’s hear from Jane Quigley, Ike Pigott, Rob LaGesse, Aaron Brazell, Rich Becker, Lauren Vargas, Shashi Bellamkonda, and KD Paine.

Thanks for playing along Geoff. Well .. now that I know we have nothing in common I guess I’ll move along. Kidding. Love James Bond and as Tom Hanks in Sleepless in Seattle said, Everyone knows Pete Rose was the best. How about a photo of you in that 1998 Cougar ;-)
Geoff, this might be a bit self-absorbed as you and Todd have said, but both of your posts were pretty interesting. I’ve followed both of you (and others) on one dimension, but it’s interesting to learn some others… Good reading for Friday at 5:20 p.m…

That’s AMAZING… that was my graduate thesis, too! What are the odds…?
Thanks, Toby. I’ll spare the trailer park photo for another day ;)
Jim: You are too kind. Love all of the stats you have been posting.
Ann: Like minds…
I LOVE James Bond marathons on Spike TV. Twittered about that over the holidays…
Forget those silly card games and let’s play spite and malice.
I named my first car Starry Eyed Surprise because she was silver.
I will overlook the baseball and MC Hammer tidbits because of your wife’s awesome job.
I can make crazy look crazy!
Thanks Geoff: here’s mine http://kdpaine.blogs.com/kdpaines_pr_m/2007/12/virtual-vs-real.html

Hey Geoff – I don’t know about self-absorbed, but I have really enjoyed reading everyone’s lists. It’s a nice way to get the chance to get a little personal.
All the best for ‘08!
Geoff,
I think you set off a chain reaction. All the skeletons are falling out of the closet – http://www.shashi.name/2008/01/crazy-eight-for-08-8-things-about-me.html . Thanks for tagging me I feel much relieved now LOL :)
I was tagged by Doug Haslam, who was tagged by Todd Defren.
The one thing that’s fascinated me about this meme is that people are being tagged by multiple people at once. I’ve never seen that in a meme before; perhaps I just missed it.
Regarding Rose – if he had bet AGAINST the Reds, would you have thought differently about his baseball skills? (Strangely enough, betting FOR your team seems to be in character for him.)
Nice to know there’s another Bond freak out there. I’ve got all of the soundtracks, as well. ‘Doh! That would have been a good one to put in mine. What was I thinking? http://www.scottmonty.com/2008/01/eight-things-you-probably-didnt-know.html
Incidentally, I’ll be interviewing Ian Fleming’s biographer Andrew Lycett later this month. I’ll let you know if I find out anything interesting…
Ontario – I assume that he did bet against the Reds.
Scott – That interview sounds fascinating. I hope you post something on it!
I stumbled upon your site after reading about it on Personal PR. I’ve enjoyed reading the Crazy 8s on several blogs now and decided to do it myself. More than anything, it was fun to reflect on things I may not have shared in previous blog postings. Thanks for the muse.
