Pitching a blogger can be as intimidating as fighting a viking. Ummm, well at least a real one.
In addition, to writing a relevant, customized, and flat-out great pitch (as opposed to a blanket release)…
You Must Be Tough.
Remember, PR is a thankless job. Pitching reporters is tough. Pitching bloggers is even tougher. Bloggers have zero obligation to write about anything, and rarely do they get paid to blog. That makes many bloggers particularly ornery when they get both ridiculous and good pitches alike.
To all my PR friends who go into this weekend smarting from Andersen’s post or the debates surrounding it, learn the lesson, but don’t despair. Be tough, and come back strong next week.

I am particularly worried about upsetting bloggers that take my interest in what they do out of context.
